In bathrooms and other moisture-prone areas, it’s best to use moisture-resistant materials such as PVC or a suitable wood species for baseboards. If you’re on a tighter budget, MDF can still be used by raising it about an inch off the floor and adding a wooden shoe molding. This setup prevents water from being absorbed into the baseboard and traveling up the profile. Proper sealing and caulking further protect against moisture, ensuring your baseboards remain in excellent condition even in humid environments.
